Medal Card Marking

Medal is the most common format to score a golf competition 

The final score will be either PAR, OVER PAR or UNDER PAR

At Pontypool 

PAR being classed as nett 69

OVER PAR being classed as nett 70 and above

UNDER PAR being classed as nett 68 and below

 

Below is the blank score card for Pontypool Golf Club

The competition and the date needs to be filled in

Write your name in Player A

Check your handicap on the handicap board and record it on your scorecard

Player B is left blank. It is used for pairs competitions

Indicate which teeing blocks you will be playing from

You cannot mark your own scorecard. 

You must swap cards with the other players in your group.

Example Players A, B and C playing together. 

Player A marks Players B card.

Player C marks Players A card.

Player B marks Players C card.

 

You can now exchange score cards with other players in your group

You record your own scores in the Marker's Score columns

You record the Player A's score in the A columns

The remaining columns are left blank

For Hole 1 you count and record your score in the Marker's Score next to hole 1

For Hole 1 you count and record Player A's score in the A column next to hole 1

Continue recording your score in Marker's Score column and Player A's score in the A column for next 8 holes

Add up the 9 numbers in the Marker's Score and record the number in the Out box for the Marker.

Add up the 9 numbers in the A column and record the number in the Out box for the Player A.

Continue recording the scores for holes 10-18 for yourself and the Player A in the appropriate columns

Add up the 9 numbers in the Marker's Score and record the number in the In box for the Marker.

Add up the 9 numbers in the A column and record the number in the In box for the Player A.

Add up the Marker's In and Out and record number by Total box

Add up the Player A's In and Out and record number in Total box

Copy the Player A's handicap into the Handicap box

Subtract the Handicap from the Total and record the number in the Nett box

Check you have marked the card correctly and sign it in the Marker's Signature space

Return the card to Player A.

Player A should then check that the score for each hole is correct, that the marker has signed the card and then sign the card in the Player's Signature space. The card is now complete and can be returned to the competition scorer.
